Puppy Fever

For a long time we have both wanted a dog. Not only for our enjoyment, but also for our children. I consider animal ownership and husbandry to be a vital part of life. When God created man he made him to be a caretaker of the plants and animals. To till and cultivate the ground and care for the animals. When we do this we are fulfilling a part of what God has created us to do and we bring glory to Him.

Living in apartments for the last 10 years has kept me from doing this. With the blessing that God has given us in our new 5 acre property, we finally will have the opportunity to return to this task that we were created for.

So about 2 months ago we found a really cute puppy that we decided to purchase and have the owner hold him until we moved out to our new property. His name is Titus and he is 1/4 Karelian Bear dog, 1/8 Chow, 1/8 Akita, and the other 1/2 is not known, but assumed to be Boxer or Pit Bull. Here is a picture of him when he was a baby.

About a month went by and we decide to go see him and give the previous owner some money for his care and up keep. Well one thing led to another and we ended up bringing him home. He was too cute to leave again and we wanted to start training him. We brought him home to our two bedroom condo and he took up residence in the living room. Here is a picture of him now.

Things were going great our puppy was starting to potty train and he seemed pretty happy. Then he started meeting other dogs and we realized that he is very much a pack dog and not a loner. So we started looking at other puppies to get once we moved to our new property. We found one that was pretty cute and we thought she would be a good playmate for Titus. We went to look at her…. Again we couldn’t resist and ended up bringing her home. Her name is Tasha. She is 1/2 German Sheppard and 1/2 Husky. She is about one month older than Titus. Here is a picture of her as a baby and what she looks like now.

So needless to say we have puppy fever. We sure are looking forward to moving to our new house. A two bedroom condo is too small for two dogs, two cats, two kids, and two adults! I’m glad we haven’t gone to look at chickens, goats, pigs, or horses yet! That will come soon enough though, I’m sure.
