We Closed Today!

As you can tell by the title, we finally closed on our property today. We closed just before 5pm. As soon as we got home, we packed up the dogs and some snacks and headed out to the house. It was a great feeling to be able to walk around the property - as the owners - for the first time.

There was still a lot of drama right up till the last minute before closing, but thankfully, we closed anyway...and for less money than our last estimate stated. When I called my mom to tell her we had closed, she said she had just been praying this afternoon that if it was God's will for us to have this property, that we would close today. If it wasn't His will, that we wouldn't close at all. Clearly it was His will for us to get it. She said she should have prayed that prayer a lot sooner!

This entire process has been a lesson in patience; I'm not sure that I'm any more patient, but Matthew says he is. He also says it was all worth it in the end.

There is still a lot of work that needs to be done just to get the property to the point where it's presentable, but we have quite a few friends who have volunteered to help us clean it up. We are truly blessed. Matthew is even more enthusiastic about his vision for the homestead, and isn't deterred by the mountain of work that still needs to be done.

You can look forward to more regular posts in the future, now that we finally own the property...once we're through moving and we get settled in. We are thankful to God for allowing us the opportunity to buy this property, and hope to be able to share His blessings with you in the future.
